Welcome to Belden Dorper Stud Website
As proprietors of Belden Dorper Stud we decided 3 years ago that we needed an interest in our retirement.
Having a 10 year break from breeding merinos and cross breds for many years we decided a change of
direction was in order. We needed an easy care sheep - so the answer - it had to be "Dorpers". After much
deliberation the decision was a black head dorper stud and then we purchased our starting flock from now
retired Ivan Wilks Springvale Stud (South African Pure Stud No 022) which had Springvale, Amarula and
Kaya bloodlines. The stud genetics at Springvale were derived from a broad cross-section of South African
and Australian genetics that ensured variation and robustness and all animals were classified to
International Bred Standard. Many of our ewes are from South African embryo transfers.
This was our best decision ever - we love our Dorpers - they are our pets, intelligent, easy to maintain, great
natured, trouble-free and undemanding.
The Dorper is a truly exceptional sheep.

To have a small flock but focusing on excellent quality.
To supply premium quality stud ewes and rams.
To supply quality easy care, high profit rams for the commercial meat breeders.
